Medical Tourist Visa (MT)

What Is a Medical Tourist Visa (MT) for Thailand?

It’s no secret that Thailand has been working hard to position itself as a medical tourism destination for years. Medical procedures include every kind of cosmetic surgery, like face lifts, breast implants, liposuction, and nose jobs. Other procedures attracting medical tourists offered in Thailand include dental, infertility, eye surgery, gender reassignments, and even hip replacements. With each type of procedure comes special considerations and concerns – not least of which is securing a Medical Tourist Visa (MT) long enough to cover the length of the procedure and required recovery time.

Once you’ve done your research and decided which Joint Commission International (JCI) accredited hospital to arrange your procedure, it’s time to start considering your Thai visa options. Without a doubt, the simplest choice is to hire a local Chiang Mai visa service to take care of everything for you. If you prefer the DIY approach or have a tight budget, consider the following steps as a guide.

After you have completed the above steps, it is time to apply for the actual MT Visa. Your above request to HHS will be evaluated and forwarded to the Thai Ministry of Foreign Affairs. From there, if all goes well, MFA will send notice to the Thai Embassy altering them of your status and to await your application.
